The Military Bowl Foundation through the DC Touchdown Club will continue its support of high school football in the National Capital Region with its High School Football Player of the Week award.
Each week throughout the season, the Touchdown Club will select one player to be honored in partnership with WTOP. Additionally, there will be an honor roll with players from throughout the region, stretching from Frederick to Stafford and Annapolis to Leesburg. High school football coaches are encouraged to nominate players each week.
Also, the Touchdown Club for the fifth consecutive year will recognize the College Player of the Week and Pro Player of the Week.
The College Player of the Week will be chosen from among players who graduated from local high schools now competing at any level of college, as well as players competing at local colleges. The Pro Player of the Week will be chosen from players who played locally in high school or college or who play for the Washington Commanders.
“We’re excited for the start of the upcoming season and can’t wait to see this fall’s high school stars shine on the field,” Military Bowl Foundation President & Executive Director Steve Beck said. “The Washington area annually produces so many top players and we are excited to recognize their accomplishments as well as those with local ties now starring in college and the NFL.”
The Player of the Week program culminates each spring with the Touchdown Club’s annual Awards Dinner, honoring the best players and coaches in the National Capital Region.
